Coastsweep

Coastsweep is the Massachusett program that organizes coastal cleanups every fall.  It is part of an international effort.  In 2011, Coastsweep volunteers cleaned up Plymouth Harbor, Nelson Street Beach, Gurnet Point & Saquish Beach.

 Goldenrod Foundation

The Goldenrod Foundation was incorporated inMassachusettsin 2000 as an operating foundation and IRS designated tax-exempt organization. Its mission is to conserve and protect the coastal environment inSoutheastern Massachusettsfor people and wildlife. The foundation is named for Seaside Goldenrod, a native plant with resilient roots that helps sustain coastal dunes and numerous species of wildlife. The founder is a New England native with a personal connection toPlymouthsince childhood. Goldenrod is a place-based foundation that connects local ecology to global issues of migration, climate change and species extinction through loss of habitat.

Southeastern MA Pine Barrens Alliance

Did you know that Plymouth is a part of the second largest remaining Pine Barrens in the world?  It stretches from Duxbury to Provincetown, and includes Plympton, Carver, Wareham, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket.  A new organization is forming to build partnerships with concerned citizens, governmental agencies, not-for-profit organizations & businesses.  SEMPBA’s mission is to provide learning opportuntities for the general public about the need to conserve, restore, intrepret & celebrate the rare ecosystem that surrounds and supports the Pine Barrens of Southeastern Massachusetts.  More info & link coming soon!
